On July 31, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính chaired an online meeting of the National Steering Committee for Key National Projects and the Ministry of Transport’s priority transport projects. The conference also reviewed the high-intensity emulation campaign titled “500 days and nights to complete 3,000 km of expressways.”

Vice Chairman of Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, chaired the session at the Quảng Ngãi location.

According to the Ministry of Construction, the Steering Committee is currently overseeing 37 major projects, including 35 road projects and 2 aviation projects.

Five expressway projects (271 km total) have been launched, and procedures are underway to start three more (302 km).

The 66-km Tân Phú–Bảo Lộc and 51-km Hồ Chí Minh City–Mộc Bài expressways are currently selecting investors and are expected to break ground in Q4/2025.

Land clearance work for 2025-completion projects has largely been completed, and localities have expedited licensing for material mining.

Contractors are working round the clock in three shifts, including holidays, to make use of favorable dry-season conditions.

So far, 208 km of expressways under the North–South East corridor (2021–2025) has been completed, along with 19 km of the Bến Lức–Long Thành expressway and 10 km of Biên Hòa–Vũng Tàu, bringing the national expressway total to over 2,260 km.

In aviation, Terminal T3 of Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport is now operational, while Long Thành International Airport remains on schedule.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh praised the efforts of ministries, localities, investors, and contractors for working tirelessly on-site to accelerate progress.

He stressed the need for the entire political system to “race against time” with unwavering determination, insisting: “No delays, only action” to achieve the goal of 3,000 km of expressways by the end of 2025.

He urged clear assignment of responsibilities, efficient decentralization, and strong inter-agency coordination.

The focus should remain on land clearance, material supply, capital allocation, and continuous on-site construction, ensuring technical quality and aesthetics.

Once completed, the expressways must be operated according to international standards, helping to drive a new phase of national development and improving people’s livelihoods.
