Quảng Ngãi - Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, along with Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm, on August 6, chaired a meeting with leaders of relevant departments and localities to address issues related to the Quảng Ngãi – Hoài Nhơn section of the expressway project.

The 88-kilometer project includes a 60.3-kilometer stretch through Quảng Ngãi Province.

Local authorities have completed land clearance and handed over the site to the contractors.

So far, the roadbed has been completed, tunnels No. 1 and No. 2 are finished, and 70 out of 77 bridges have had beams installed.

Approximately 3,450 engineers and workers, along with 1,400 machines, are mobilized on-site. The project has reached over 62 per cent of the total construction volume.

However, construction has faced disruption from residents in Đình Cương, Nghĩa Giang and Nguyễn Nghiêm communes due to property damage caused by road compaction and blasting.

Delays in damage assessment and compensation by the contractors have fueled public frustration.

Local authorities have been actively addressing these issues, especially after administrative unit consolidation. Many households have been persuaded to stop obstructing construction.

In Nguyễn Nghiêm commune, two special task forces were formed to resolve outstanding problems. As a result, 4 out of 5 households have accepted compensation and ceased objections.

For the remaining household, the local government has implemented protection plans and continued to engage with residents.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman Nguyễn Hoàng Giang directed contractors to urgently assess the impact of construction activities, prove financial capability, and expedite compensation payments to gain public trust.

He emphasized the need to speed up work in areas where issues have been resolved.

Local authorities were also tasked with continuing public outreach efforts to maintain social consensus and minimize further disruptions.

Immediately after the meeting, Chairman Giang and provincial leaders conducted a field inspection at sites affected by ground vibrations.

He reiterated the need for swift assessment and compensation to ensure safety and progress across the entire project.
