On the morning of August 26, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính chaired a conference to review the program and patriotic campaign “Cả nước chung tay xóa nhà tạm, nhà dột nát” (The whole country joins hands to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses).
At the Quảng Ngãi venue, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, attended the conference, along with leaders of provincial departments and localities.
Goals achieved ahead of schedule
Launched by the Prime Minister on April 13, 2024, the campaign was carried out with the spirit of “whoever has resources contributes whatever they can, no one is left behind.”
Remarkably, the program was completed 5 years and 4 months earlier than the target set by Resolution No. 42-NQ/TW of the 13th Party Central Committee, and 4 months earlier than the goal set when the campaign was launched.
After just over one year, all 34 provinces and cities nationwide have completed the task, supporting the construction and repair of 334,234 houses (255,310 newly built and 78,924 repaired).
More than VNĐ 24,700 billion and 2.7 million working days were mobilized, with the participation of over 454,300 people.
On August 19, the campaign was recognized as one of the 250 major projects to celebrate the 80th National Day (September 2).
In Quảng Ngãi, the province established a Steering Committee, allocated local budget, mobilized support from the central government, combined resources with other national target programs, and received active contributions from police, military, local communities, businesses, and volunteers.
By June 20, 2025, Quảng Ngãi had completed construction and repair of 9,071 houses for poor and near-poor households, reaching 100 per cent of the target two months ahead of schedule. The total funding was more than VNĐ 532.4 billion and 273,860 working days.
Sustaining social welfare efforts
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính praised the extraordinary efforts of Party committees, authorities, organizations, businesses, and people nationwide, which contributed significantly to the achievement.
He requested ministries, localities, and agencies to continue implementing Resolution No. 42-NQ/TW, emphasizing that housing support for disadvantaged groups, people in disaster-prone and climate-affected areas must be a long-term, regular task.
The Prime Minister also directed the Ministry of Finance to coordinate with other agencies to ensure that the state budget remains the main resource for social security, while also mobilizing social contributions, especially in vocational training, jobs, and livelihoods for the poor and ethnic minorities.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations were asked to strengthen cooperation, supervision, and policy feedback, ensuring people’s needs and rights are protected.
At the conference, 19 collectives were awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal, and 19 others received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister for outstanding achievements in the campaign in 2025.
