In 2024, ethnic work has received attention, direction and coordination from the Party, the State and the entire political system at all levels, creating an important driving force in implementing ethnic policies, contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

In Quang Ngai province, in 2024, the socio-economic situation in mountainous areas continued to be stable and develop. The people's lives have had many positive changes. The poverty rate decreased by 7 per cent, exceeding the assigned target. 100 per cent of ethnic minorities participate in health insurance.

Natural forest areas and ecological environment are protected. Traditional culture of ethnic minority areas is preserved and developed. The political security in the region is maintained.

So far, eight communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have met the new rural standards.

It is expected that by the end of 2025, 13 communes in Region II and Region III in ethnic minority and mountainous areas will meet the new rural standards.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that there are many specific guidelines, mechanisms, and policies issued to support ethnic minorities and mountainous regions, along with significant investment resources.

The enthusiasm and responsibility of the leadership at all levels should be even higher to do more for ethnic groups, Binh stressed.

In 2025, the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister asked ministries and localities to complete the housing construction for the poor, summarize phase 1 of the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas and prepare for the period 2026-2030.
