On April 21, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, chaired a working session with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to review key tasks following its recent merger and discuss upcoming plans.
The department was formed by merging the former Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
It now oversees a wide range of state management functions, including land, water resources, environment, climate change, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, rural development, and disaster prevention.
At the meeting, Director Hồ Trọng Phương reported on progress across multiple sectors—crop and livestock production, forestry, fisheries, food safety, irrigation, clean water, rural development, land management, environmental protection, and public administration reform.
Vice Chairman Hiền praised the department's positive transition and emphasized the need for unity, responsibility, and continuous capacity building among staff.
He also outlined key priorities ahead, including implementing the 2025 provincial work plan, expediting major projects, improving disease and disaster response, combating IUU fishing, and accelerating disbursement of rural development funds.
He further requested the department to promptly finalize and submit proposals for restructuring its internal units and public funds, adjust land-use plans, and ensure the supply of essential construction materials for key infrastructure projects in the province.
