Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, on July 25 chaired a meeting to review and give feedback on proposals to extend land use periods for non-budget investment projects whose land lease terms have expired.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, 11 such projects across the province have requested land use extensions. These projects mainly operate in the fields of petroleum trading, mineral exploitation, and construction materials.
During the review process, several challenges have emerged, including delays in updating projects into annual land use plans, late application submissions (over six months past due), and a lack of specific regulations on the total extension period allowed.
In particular, the issue of determining specific land prices remains unresolved; the department has requested guidance from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Finance.
Vice Chairman Hiền emphasized that land use extension decisions must be handled promptly when requested by investors, while ensuring compliance with legal regulations and alignment with the province’s development plans and land use strategies.
He requested all relevant agencies to urgently complete the necessary assessments and advise provincial authorities to approve extensions for projects that meet legal requirements, aiming to support the continued effective operation of private investment projects.
