Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee, Trần Phước Hiền, led a delegation to visit and work with the Management Board of Chư Mom Ray National Park on July 27.
Located in the west of Quảng Ngãi province, Chư Mom Ray is one of Vietnam’s most biodiverse national parks.
It covers over 60,700 hectares, home to more than 1,000 animal species and nearly 1,900 plant species, including many rare and endemic ones.
In 2004, it was recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park.
The Chư Mom Ray National Park Management Board is responsible for protecting and developing the forest across six communes, with a forest coverage rate of 97.1 per cent.
The team includes 94 staff members working in forest protection, fire prevention, scientific research, eco-tourism, and biodiversity conservation.
Vice Chairman Hiền praised the park’s achievements and emphasized its ecological, economic, tourism, scientific, and cultural value.
He called for stronger and more effective efforts in forest protection and biodiversity conservation to fully unlock the park’s potential.
He also urged the Management Board to enhance community education, improve coordination with local authorities, and apply advanced technology in forest monitoring and management.
