Quảng Ngãi - Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People's Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Sâm on July 16 conducted an on-site inspection of the site clearance and compensation work for the North–South Expressway (Eastern section), the Quảng Ngãi–Hoài Nhơn segment.
The 60.3-kilometer section involves over 494 hectares of land acquisition, affecting 5,743 households, including 655 households requiring resettlement.
Key infrastructure to be relocated includes high-voltage power lines, telecom poles, water pipelines, and two BTS stations.
To date, 23 resettlement areas and 17 reburial sites have been completed. The main construction route has been fully cleared and handed over.
However, an additional 25 hectares is still under processing due to design adjustments, including land for rest stops and technical facilities.
The investor reported unresolved issues such as property damage from construction activities (vibration and blasting), delays in damage assessments, and slow coordination on compensation plans, which have caused construction delays.
Some residents within the expressway safety corridor have requested compensation and resettlement.
Vice Chairman Sâm urged Project Management Board 2 to direct contractors to minimize construction impacts and quickly finalize and implement compensation plans.
He tasked the Department of Construction with monitoring progress and advising the province in case of continued delays.
He also assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to work with local authorities to resolve issues transparently and legally, especially concerning disputed land and homes within safety corridors.
For the rest stop area, relevant agencies were instructed to expedite compensation procedures and encourage residents to hand over the land.
