According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, in the first six months of 2025, traffic accidents nationwide decreased significantly in all three criteria. A total of 9,398 accidents occurred, leaving 5,293 people dead and 6,246 injured. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of accidents, fatalities, and injuries all fell.

Notably, 33 provinces and centrally-run cities recorded fewer fatalities, with 11 localities achieving reductions of over 20 per cent.

Nationwide, traffic police inspected and handled more than 1.67 million violations of road, rail, and inland waterway traffic regulations, imposing fines totaling VNĐ 3.542 trillion, revoking 140,000 driving licenses and professional certificates, and impounding more than 424,000 vehicles.

However, traffic congestion remains a challenge, with 28 incidents reported nationwide, up over 40 per cent compared to last year, mainly due to rising vehicle volumes, accidents, and other incidents.

In Quảng Ngãi, traffic accidents in the first seven months of the year were curbed, with reductions in all three criteria: a 31.8 per cent drop in the number of cases, a 19.3 per cent decrease in fatalities, and a 39 per cent reduction in injuries.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà called on ministries, sectors, and localities to maintain high responsibility and determination, implementing comprehensive measures to ensure traffic order and safety.

He urged the elimination of accident-prone “black spots,” tighter management of tourist boats and transport vessels on rivers and seas, and stronger oversight of newly decentralized state management tasks at the local level.

He also emphasized the strict enforcement of laws against violations and obstruction of law enforcement officers, as well as the greater application of technology in vehicle and driver management.
