On the morning of August 20, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Nguyễn Đức Tuy, conducted a field survey of transportation routes and local economic models in Sơn Tây Thượng commune.
He was accompanied by member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Organization Commission, Lữ Ngọc Bình, along with leaders of relevant departments and local authorities.
The delegation inspected Road 24D, a 15-kilometer route linking Sơn Tây Thượng with Măng Bút commune.
The road is crucial for agriculture, tourism, and trade, but has severely deteriorated, hampering travel and goods transport.
Local authorities proposed provincial investment to upgrade the route.
Chairman Tuy emphasized the urgent need for improvement and assigned relevant agencies to study and propose investment plans in line with regulations.
He also visited two agricultural and service cooperatives in Sơn Tây Thượng.
Sơn Liên Cooperative is purchasing and marketing local products such as macadamia, upland rice, bamboo shoots, and chili peppers, while developing guava, pomelo, and hybrid wild pig farming projects.
Sơn Bua Cooperative works with farmers on 100 hectares of bananas, processing products like dried bananas, banana syrup, bamboo shoots, and banana wine. Several products have been recognized as 3-star OCOP items.
Chairman Tuy praised the cooperatives for tapping local strengths to promote collective economic growth.
He encouraged them to expand operations, apply scientific advances, improve product quality, and build strong brands.
He also urged Sơn Tây Thượng commune to support enterprises and cooperatives in branding, market expansion, and addressing operational challenges to ensure sustainable development.
