Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh inspects the North-South Expressway project, section passing through Quang Ngai province

On January 16 afternoon, Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh inspected and directed the construction of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway project, the section passing through Quang Ngai province. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien accompanied the delegation.

Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway is one of 12 component projects of the North - South Expressway that started construction in early 2023.

The project is 88km long, passing through Quang Ngai province (60.3km) and Binh Dinh province (27.7km). The total investment is 20.4 trillion VND.

The project is invested by Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Transport), and the construction contractor is led by the Deo Ca Group consortium.

Representative of Deo Ca Group said that, so far, the entire project has mobilized nearly 4,000 personnel along with 1,500 machines and equipment, implementing the construction of "3 shifts and 4 crews" on the entire route. Particularly for the tunnel item, workers and engineers take turns working 24/7.

Currently, 77 out of 77 bridges are under construction. Among them, the largest bridge on the route, Song Ve Bridge, has completed the installation of girders and bridge deck. Tunnel 1 and Tunnel 2 have basically completed the construction and installation, and are currently installing equipment in the tunnel and completing the operation house.

As for Tunnel 3 (3,200m long), 1,990m of the left tunnel has been dug, whereas the volume of work dug for the right tunnel is 2,200m. The tunnel is expected to be cleared before April 30, 2025.

Through the on-site inspection, Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh acknowledged and highly appreciated the drastic participation of Quang Ngai authorities in ensuring site clearance and material sources for project construction, as well as promptly resolving related issues arising during project implementation.

The Minister urged the province to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the investors and contractors to complete the project according to the set plan.

The Minister of Transport requested the investors and the consultants to inspect and promply remove difficulties for contractors during the construction process, speed up the construction progress, and ensure safety for workers and equipment.
